I wanted to give a shout-out to DA artist ~secrets-of-the-pen secrets-of-the-pen.deviantart.…. Not only is she an extremely talented artist in many mediums, but she is using her talents to raise money for Safe House, an emergency shelter for victims of domestic abuse. Her current project is a year-long trading card project where she draws a new image every day of the year. These are all for sale, and proceeds benefit Safe House.

Hey everyone!

So my friend Mel-the-Cat and I recently went on a photo-taking spree (we call them "photo hunts," as we search for subject matter to capture beautiful photos). Luckily we didn't have to look too hard. A nearby nature park is always a great fallback and an excellent place to get shots. So that means new photos to put up!

Some fun things that happened:
1) I successfully found the new entrance to the park amidst the road construction that started while I was away at school.
2) Mel got kidnapped by a monster tree. With her permission, I will post the photo.
3) While on the dock in the pond, we played photo fetch--Mel threw various sticks and pebbles into the water to create ripples and I tried to find them while zooming in through the viewfinder. This is harder than it sounds. But very successful, I think. Photos of that to come soon.
4) We found that lovely afternoon "sweet light" that makes everything gold and beautiful. I utilized the sunlight to capture some great nature shots...I'm as pleased as a pirate taking home some bounty.
5) So. Many. Inside. Jokes.
6) I made an epic left turn out of the park, though construction, while avoiding traffic and listening to Mel's repeated chanting of "GO GO GO!"

Photographers, if you're ever on the hunt, it's sometimes nice to bring a fellow photographer with you. They can point out things you may miss, challenge you to get a better shot, or make braving the elements (i.e. extreme cold) even easier. Besides, who else would willingly wait for you while you take a picture of a blade of grass from six different angles?
